The village and the bay
The village is set back from the sea on a hillside, with a square, churches and lanes built long before cars. A road drops through the olives to the bay, where there is a beach, tavernas and boats, and beyond it the coast breaks into small coves. Paleokastritsa's harbour is a short drive away; Doukades and Lakones are neighbours across the hills.

Liapades has stone houses, some restored and some not, and their courtyards and terraces look over the valley or towards the sea. Villas with pools stand on the slopes between the village and the bay, and there are plots in the groves. German-speaking buyers are a familiar presence on this coast.
