The island

Meganisi lies in the sheltered water between Lefkada and the mainland, next to Skorpios. Its northern coast is a lace of small bays — Spilia, Atherinos, Abelike — that fill with yachts in summer; the south is cliffs and caves. The three villages of Spartochori, Katomeri and Vathy sit on the plateau above the harbours, with fewer than a thousand residents between them. The island has kept its scale: village tavernas and a ferry timetable that structures the day.

Where people buy

Villas with views over the bays are found above Spartochori and around Vathy. Village houses in Katomeri and the other two villages suit buyers who want to be in the community rather than above it. Outside the villages the 4,000 m² rule generally applies, so it matters whether a plot already carries a permit.

Getting there

Fly to Preveza/Aktion (PVK), drive to Nidri on Lefkada, then twenty to thirty minutes by ferry to Spilia or Vathy. Owners with boats treat the crossing as part of the pleasure.
